Stinging Insect Control

Mid-Michigan’s TrustedStinging Insect Control Experts

Wasps and bees provide a great level of fear and discomfort for anyone who deals with them, regardless if they invade the home or not. Capable of delivering fatal stings, these insects are considered a top-priority by R&D Pest Control. Around 40-100 people die every year from deadly wasp or bee stings, and many more (1-2 million!) are allergic to the venom from stinging insects. With such numbers to consider, we at R&D Pest Control commit to properly treat such insects to ensure the safety of you and your family.

Common Stinging Insect Concerns

Wasps

Includes yellow jackets, bald-faced hornets and paper wasps. Nests vary between species, with different levels of aggression between them. Best controlled by treating the nest directly and waiting for the pesticides to work through the entire nest.

Bees

Carpenter bees and honeybees are the primary pests in Michigan. Some of the most beneficial insects in the world, yet when they enter or attack a structure, control is necessary before damage costs become out of hand. Carpenter bees can be treated in a similar fashion to wasps, but nest removal is not needed, as they are solitary insects.

Are all stinging insects dangerous?

No. Many stinging insects are solitary, meaning they pose little risk of stinging you. These include carpenter bees, mud dauber wasps and the large, menacing cicada killer wasp. However, carpenter bees, mud daubers and cicada killers are all capable of creating damage to and around your property, and all are capable of being treated by our technicians.
